Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Chris Clemons spent today in the hospital after he was taken by ambulance off the Eagles’ practice field this morning with heat-related dehydration, but he has reportedly been released and is now back at training camp.
Clemons was helped off the field during this morning’s practice, given intravenous fluids and, about an hour later, taken to the hospital. He never lost consciousness. Temperatures were in the 80s today in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, where the Eagles hold training camp.
NFL teams are urged to take every precaution during summer practices, and from all accounts the Eagles were appropriately cautious when Clemons began to show signs of overheating and dehydration.
Clemons signed a five-year contract with the Eagles in March after spending 2007 with the Raiders.
