Donovan McNabb had one of the best season-opening performances of his career Sunday, throwing for 361 yards and three touchdowns in the Eagles' 38-3 win over the St. Louis Rams.
McNabb completed passes to eight different receivers, including wideouts DeSean Jackson, Greg Lewis and Hank Baskett. All three finished with 100-plus receiving yards.
"We were able to spread the ball around a little bit, and I think that's really when this offense is at its best," said coach Andy Reid, who was without his top two wide receivers, Kevin Curtis and Reggie Brown. Curtis is out for at least another month recovering from sports hernia surgery. Brown missed the Rams game with a hamstring injury.
McNabb appears to have made a complete recovery from his '06 ACL injury. Most of his mobility returned to him in the second half of the '07 season. He finished the '07 season strong, leading the Eagles to three straight season-ending wins, including one over this week's opponent, Dallas.
"Those last three games last year, I just felt like he was back to his old form then," Reid said. "He was very confident in his leg. He just had everything going. I think he just picked up from there. It looked like he did in the preseason, and it looked like he did Sunday."
