Wide receiver Kevin Curtis got a heavy workload in his first game back with the Eagles. Curtis, who missed the first six games recovering from sports hernia surgery, was on the field for 59 of the Eagles' 68 offensive plays in their 27-14 win over the Atlanta Falcons.

Curtis, who caught 77 passes for 1,110 yards and six touchdowns last season, had three catches for 45 yards against the Falcons.

"I probably played him more than I wanted to play him," Eagles coach Andy Reid said. "He had too many snaps out there. I wasn't counting on that (many) going into the game. But he was feeling pretty good."

Last year, tight end L.J. Smith suffered a sports hernia and hurried back too quickly following the operation. He ended up needing additional surgery and never was anywhere close to 100 percent.

The Eagles took a more cautious approach with Curtis. He had the surgery to repair the sports hernia in mid-August, returned to practice 2 1/2 weeks ago, but didn't play until Sunday.

"(Eagles trainer) Rick (Burkholder) and the doctors handled it the right way," Reid said. "You've seen people on other teams come back from those things too fast and have setbacks the last couple of weeks. We were able to get him two or three weeks out there (on the practice field) where he could gradually get back into the swing of things."

While the Eagles got Curtis back Sunday, another wide receiver, Reggie Brown, missed his second straight game with a groin injury. Reid said Brown likely will participate fully in practice this week and be ready to play Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks.
