For only the second time this season, the Eagles failed to register a quarterback sack in Thursday night's 48-20 win over the Arizona Cardinals.

But that didn't mean Jim Johnson's defense didn't get any pressure on Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner. Just the opposite.

The Eagles' defensive line was in Warner's face much of the night, forcing hurried throws that resulted in three interceptions and never letting him get comfortable in the pocket.

The Eagles, who went into the game with a league-best 39 sacks, are one of the biggest blitzing teams in the league. But Johnson didn't blitz very often against Warner, who is as good as there is in the league at beating the blitz. He relied on his front four to get heat on the quarterback, and they did.

"I thought our guys were very determined to stop that passing game," coach Andy Reid said. "It all starts up front and the pressure you can put on the quarterback. We learned (Thursday) that it's not all about sacks, but just having somebody around him or in his face makes any quarterback in this league a different thrower and a little bit less accurate. And in Kurt, you're talking about one of the most accurate quarterbacks that's ever played the game."

The Eagles had just one interception in the previous four games and had to face the Cardinals without starting cornerback Asante Samuel, who had a neck injury. But Joselio Hanson stepped in and did an excellent job in his place. Hanson had the first of the Eagles' three interceptions off Warner.

Hanson started ahead of former Pro Bowler Lito Sheppard, who lost his starting job this season to Samuel. Sheppard, who gave up a 53-yard touchdown on a slant route last week to the Baltimore Ravens' Mark Clayton, gave up a one-yard touchdown on a slant route to the Cardinals' Larry Fitzgerald. Sheppard was the nickel corner. When Samuel returns, it will be interesting to see whether Sheppard slips down the depth chart to the No. 4 corner.
