Philadelphia Eagles Notes, Quotes 2009-02-13
--Running back Brian Westbrook spent much of the season nursing a knee injury. After leading the league in yards from scrimmage in 2007, his numbers fell off dramatically in '08. But he did not have to have offseason surgery on the knee. "I think he's going to be fine," general manager Tom Heckert said. "He's been rehabbing. People have wondered whether he's done. Well, he was pretty damn good two years ago. One year of being banged up isn't enough reason to throw him off to the side. He's going to be fine."

--Quarterback Donovan McNabb and his agent, Fletcher Smith, are expected to meet with head coach Andy Reid and club president Joe Banner sometime before next week's scouting combine. The Eagles already have said McNabb will be their starting quarterback next season. But he wants a contract extension. The 32-year-old McNabb has two years left on his current deal.

--Both of the Eagles' veteran offensive tackles - LT Tra Thomas and RT Jon Runyan - are unrestricted free agents. The Eagles likely will re-sign just one of them. Right now, it appears that will be Thomas. For starters, they don't really have a replacement for Thomas on the left side. Secondly, Runyan recently underwent microfracture surgery on his knee and is on the shelf for at least the next 4 months.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "It's tough to hear something about a guy like that. He's a great guy and he cares about people. He's willing to do whatever for anyone. To see him go through this is tough. But we're all behind him and we'll provide support for him and continue to pray for him. He's a fighter." -- Eagles QB Donovan McNabb on defensive coordinator Jim Johnson, who is battling cancer.
