--Running back Brian Westbrook, who is due just $3 million in base salary and a $1.5 million roster bonus this season, wants a new deal. However, he did show up to training camp on time. "We've always done a good job with those things, so I'm not worried about that," coach Andy Reid said. "We've always been very fair and understanding to the players that we've approached about contracts. Other than that, I'm not going to get into that. It's not our policy to get into these things, so I'll leave it at that."
--QB Kevin Kolb is practicing with the second team, with A.J. Feeley running with the third string. "I think he's well ahead of what he was last year," coach Andy Reid said. "He's worked very hard at that. He basically spent the whole offseason up here going over film and techniques and all those things. Then the actual reps that he got during minicamps I think were important."
--QB Donovan McNabb said his right shoulder, which he had experienced tightness in, feels good now. "It took rest and stretching. In this position I play, it's just repetition and continuing to throw the routes and getting that velocity back that you would throw in game speed," he said. "It's very similar to a pitcher. If I'm a pitcher throwing 25-30 pitches and all of a sudden throwing 85-90 pitches in a game, you see so many pitchers going through it now with tightness. Tightness, which is what I said, not tendinitis. It's just rest, and continuing to stay on it."
--Defensive tackle Trevor Laws has agreed to a four-year contract, but he's not ready to practice with the team because of a foot injury suffered during an offseason workout. Coach Andy Reid anticipates Laws will miss "the first couple of days."
--Quarterback Donovan McNabb used his blog on yardbarker.com to announce that his shoulder has never felt better. McNabb had to be shut down for the final three days of the team's June passing camp because of tendonitis in his throwing shoulder. On his blog, McNabb said the "shoulder is fine." He doesn't anticipate being limited in any way once training camp begins.
--Free safety Brian Dawkins spent several days at McNabb's home in Chandler, Arizona last week working out with the quarterback. Several of the team's receivers and running backs, including starting wide receivers Kevin Curtis and Reggie Brown, are working out with McNabb in Arizona this week before training camp gets underway next week.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "I think they feel passionate about that spot and sometimes that can be a bit overrated. But I understand the want there. I don't necessarily feel the same way, but I understand where they are coming from." -- Coach Andy Reid on the constant clamoring by Eagles fans for a top-of-the-line wide receiver.
