Philadelphia Eagles Notes, Quotes 2008-11-13
--One of the reasons the Eagles didn't re-sign fullback Thomas Tapeh after last season was because he couldn't play on special teams. Yet, they now are carrying two fullbacks on their roster - starter Dan Klecko and former Patriot Kyle Eckel, who they signed last month but have yet to activate. Asked if he would like to get a look at Eckel at fullback, Reid said: "Right now, I don't have a reason to other than seeing him learning the offense and seeing him perform in practice. You're insinuating here that the other guy (Klecko) isn't doing his job, and I'm not saying that. The other guy is doing his job, and he'll be fine there."

--Pro Bowl guard Shawn Andrews, who had back surgery in California nearly a month ago, still hasn't been allowed to return to Philadelphia. The Eagles, who haven't put him on injured reserve, initially said he might be able to return to play in 6-7 weeks. That now appears unlikely. "We'll just see," coach Andy Reid said. "Right now, we're OK without that (roster) spot and him doing what he's doing. We'll just see what time does for him here."

--The Eagles are 1-10 in their past 11 games that have been decided by six points or less. They're 7-19 in their past 26 games decided by six points or less.

--In their past two NFC East games against the Giants and the Redskins, the Eagles defense has been gashed for a total of 422 rushing yards and allowed a disturbing 4.7 yards per carry. In their other seven games, they've given up just 522 yards and have allowed just 3.3 yards per carry. "(The Giants) ran the ball and they ran it well and effectively," linebacker Omar Gaither said. "They did some things that put us in bad situations, as far as the edge was concerned. They were able to rack up too many yards. I look at that and that's terrible." Said head coach Andy Reid: "I'm not concerned other than with stopping it. I know we can do that with the people we have. As coaches, we do some things schematically to tighten up the run defense."

--Even though Brian Westbrook admits to not being 100 percent, his backup, Correll Buckhalter, has just 11 touches in the past three games, despite putting up 178 yards from scrimmage in the Eagles' Week 7 win over San Francisco, which Westbrook sat out with fractured ribs.

BY THE NUMBERS: 7 - The number of first-quarter points the Eagles have scored in their past three games.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "We don't always have it, no. At some points in some games, we have it. At some points in other games, we don't. I think that there are situations at times when we probably should have more commitment to the run." -- RB Brian Westbrook on whether he feels the Eagles are committed to run the ball.
