Philadelphia Eagles Notes, Quotes 2008-12-18
--The Eagles converted 11 of 17 third-down opportunities in Monday night's win over the Browns. In their three straight wins, they are an impressive 33-for-50 on third down (66.0 percent). In the previous five games, they were 18-for-70 (25.7). "Third down, you spend a lot of time on that during the week game-planning and practicing," coach Andy Reid said. "And I think Donovan (McNabb) is doing a great job there managing the third downs. We're putting ourselves into manageable third-down situations, which has helped a lot."

--For the second time this season on a Monday night, the Eagles had a player who was running for a touchdown throw the ball away before he crossed the goal line. Wide receiver DeSean Jackson did it in the second week of the season, negating what would have been a 61-yard score. In Monday night's win over the Browns, cornerback Asante Samuel intercepted a pass and returned it 50 yards for a touchdown. But he tossed the ball away before he got into the end. Fortunately for him, it bounced into the end zone and he grabbed it before a Browns defender fell on it. "I guess I dropped the ball a little bit (early)," Samuel said. "I didn't quite get there and dropped it. So I picked it up as soon as I realized it. I was just thinking, 'Oh, man, I'm about to mess up my touchdown.' I thought I'd better hurry up and get the ball."

--Kevin Kolb replaced Donovan McNabb in the fourth quarter of Monday night's game after the Eagles had a 27-point lead. He threw his fourth interception and his second that was returned for a touchdown. But Andy Reid said he is not considering flip-flopping Kolb and No. 3 quarterback A.J. Feeley. "I'm not worried about that," Reid said. "That (interception) could have happened to anybody when somebody comes free like that from your backside. He'll be OK."

BY THE NUMBERS: 101 - WR Jason Avant's receiving yards on five catches against Cleveland. It was the first 100-yard receiving game of his career.

NOTE TO QUOTE: "Jason has great change-of-direction ability, has phenomenal hands, is strong to the football and is a terrific route-runner. He really is a good fit for us at that spot. He knows how to work the middle of the field." -- Coach Andy Reid on slot receiver Jason Avant.
