Philadelphia Eagles Notes, Quotes 2008-12-23
--After converting 33 of 50 third-down opportunities in consecutive wins over Arizona, the New York Giants and Cleveland that vaulted them back into the NFC playoff hunt, the Eagles were just 3-for-14 on third downs in Sunday's 10-3 loss to the Washington Redskins, including 2-for-6 when they needed five yards or less. In their three previous games, the Eagles had converted 22 of 26 third downs of five yards or less. "We weren't able to convert third downs like we have been in previous games," said quarterback Donovan McNabb. Five of the Eagles' 12 possessions against the Redskins were three-and-outs. Said offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg: "We weren't very good at it (converting third downs)."

--Rookie DeSean Jackson leads the team in receptions, but he was a non-factor in both losses to the Redskins. He had just two catches for 14 yards Sunday and had only one catch for 8 yards in an earlier 23-17 loss. Jackson dropped two big passes Sunday from Donovan McNabb, including one in the end zone with about a minute left that would have tied the game. "I'll take the blame," Jackson said. "I felt I should have caught the passes." Earlier in the game, Jackson suffered a rib injury when he went up for a pass from McNabb and was drilled in the back by Redskins safety LaRon Landry. "Obviously I took a nice little hit," Jackson said. "I just tried to come back and fight for my team. I wasn't in the place I wanted to be. It's the game we play. You're not always going to feel healthy. You're not always going to feel great."
