PLAYER

--DE Victor Abiamiri could be lost for as much as four months after dislocating his right wrist. Abiamiri was projected to be the team's season-opening starting left end.

--DE Bryan Smith returned to practice after the rookie third-round pick missed the first week of camp with a hamstring injury.

--DE Darren Howard has a chance to earn one of the four spots in the Eagles' defensive end rotation if Victor Abiamiri misses a significant amount of time with his dislocated wrist.

--OT Winston Justice, who was drafted to be Tra Thomas' eventual replacement at left tackle, has been moved to the right side. He has taken all of his training camp snaps at right tackle as the backup to starter Jon Runyan.

--RG Shawn Andrews continues to be AWOL. He did not report to camp and was placed on the team's reserve-did not report list. The reason for his absence is unknown, but it doesn't appear to be contract related.

BATTLE OF THE WEEK: Dan Klecko vs. Kimo von Oelhoffen for the fourth defensive tackle spot on the roster. When the Eagles signed Klecko in March, they moved him to fullback, but abandoned that idea during the spring minicamps. He has played very well at tackle, while von Oelhoffen has been hurt.

OTHER BATTLE FRONTS: FBs Luke Lawton and Jason Davis for the starting job. The Eagles will only keep one fullback on the roster. ... Correll Buckhalter, Tony Hunt and Ryan Moats for the third RB spot behind starter Brian Westbrook and Lorenzo Booker.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: S Quintin Demps. The rookie fourth-rounder is having an excellent camp so far. He had 17 interceptions last year at Texas El-Paso and is being just as opportunistic in his first pro camp. Defensive coordinator Jim Johnson has been so impressed with his speed and quickness that he's working Demps at safety and cornerback.

ROOKIE REPORT: DT Trevor Laws (second round) missed the first few days of camp with a foot injury, but is healthy now. He has an excellent chance to earn a spot in the Eagles' four-man tackle rotation. ... WR DeSean Jackson (second) missed a day of practice after tweaking his hamstring, but returned to the field the next day. He's picking up the offense well and is even getting some work with the first-team offense in certain packages. He also is expected to be the season-opening punt returner. ... DE Bryan Smith (third) is back after missing more than a week with a hamstring injury he suffered right before the start of camp. Smith is undersized (just 235 pounds), but has excellent quickness. That said, it's going to be tough for him to earn a spot in the team's four-man end rotation. ... S Quintin Demps (fourth) is having an excellent camp and is even getting some work at cornerback. He has the most speed the Eagles have had at safety since Brian Dawkins was a pup. ... LB Joe Mays (sixth round) continues to have a solid camp. His ability to play special teams probably is going to help him make the roster if he can stay healthy.

INJURY REPORT: DE Victor Abiamiri needed surgery to repair a dislocated wrist and could be lost to the team for four months. It was a big blow for the defense. He figured to be their starter at left end and move inside to tackle in nickel. ... S Brian Dawkins has missed a week of practice with a hyperextended knee. ... CB Asante Samuel has been out since the second day of camp with a hamstring injury. Eagles want to make sure it's completely healed before he returns. He also injured it in June at the team's passing camp. ... DT Kimo von Oelhoffen has knee inflammation that has sidelined him for the better part of a week.
